The Leaders of the Catholic Church are cafeteria catholics

The catholic church is going insane over birth control, but where are they on other issues they claim to care about? Andrew Sullivan nails this one.

"But ask yourself: where were they on a much more fundamental cause for Catholics: universal healthcare? Were they anything like as vocal?

Where were they when the Bush administration was practizing and authorizing the torture and abuse and robbing of human dignity of terror suspects? The Pope never obliquely mentioned these categorical evils when visiting the US and cozying up to the war criminals in the Bush administration?

...

Why so utterly fixated on sex, especially the sex lives of women and gay men? Why so utterly indifferent to the whole range of public policies which Catholic orthodoxy has strong views on?"

The best summary of the torture report I have seen
They tortured without knowing if the person had any information, and they tortured the wrong people, mistaken identities, over 20 times. This is a crime, and against all of the ideals of America. I agree with Reagan and McCain, you side with read the rest

Ronald Reagan on Torture
I agree with Reagan. Also, the torture didn't save anyone, it was used on over 20 people that were wrongfully held, and as the report makes clear they were torturing people when they had no idea if the victim had any useful information at all. I also read the rest
