The new nobility

It's 1776. American rebels are trying to topple the power of the nobility, the power of the king of England and his cohorts. Soon after, the French decide to chop off their heads. These two actions, the American Revolution and the French Revolution, signal the start of the end of the medieval world dominated by royalty.

The new royalty is composed of the obscenely wealthy. Money has replaced inherited nobility. So the people who rule the world today are billionaire bankers, billionaire Wall Streeters, and so on.

If they lose money, you reimburse them. If they make money, fuck you. Their main concern is that they are not taxed. They want it all for themselves.

They demand the right to charge loan shark interest, and since they own our corrupt Congress they get away with it. They are today's nobility.

I would chop their fuckin heads off, myself. Actually, no need for that. Just live up to Lincoln's ideal of a country governed on behalf of the people. He got shot though, didn't he.

New money shouts - but old wealth speaks silently.

It's only a select few that we pay if they fuck up. Now we need to rewrite monopoly and anti-trust laws so that the words Too Big to Fail are never uttered again.
