New bike

So some of you know I'm selling my bike cause its too quick.

I was looking at things to slow me down. I'm considering a Deauville touring bike, if I can find one at the price, or a Yamaha Virago 535, or any other custom chopper I can get for under a grand. I'd LOVE to build a chopper, do it on the cheap how its meant to be done. I saw a beautifully chopped Virago 535 today but I called up too late. It had 16" hangers, slashcut exhausts, and a home-made paint job.

I'm hoping I can get an old virago.... I saw a 1983 500cc virago, that was crying out for chopping... What I really wanna do is fit middle-height ape-hangers, 10" ones, a big BIG sissy bar, literally 16" tall, and exhausts sticking up at 30 degrees and about 24" long. I'd spray it myself, in 'Oakland Orange'. It's based on a 1960s Hell's Angels bike, very loosely, kinda a tribute to rebels and freewheeling 1%ers....

Much as I love my sportsbike, I've always wanted to build a chopper. I'm really sad, that I've gotta sell my bike, I've cried a few times, but its too fast. So I've now got to ride something else. And I don't want a shitty un-faired commuter bike, I'd much rather ride something with a bit of charisma.

I dont like the idea of a "home-made" paint job, but the rest sounds great.

Its actually not too bad spraying a bike at home. You only really need to do the tank on a cruiser. It depends on what colour one I buy. If I buy one that looks gorgeous then I'll leave it as it is. Its just a case of stripping the paint down, priming it then painting it - and I've found a cheap local paint shop that would do it cheap. Really, keeping in tradition, I should do the frame too, but that would require a LOT of work. I'll see if it snows again next winter.

Leaving Yakkstr
In the past six months I've acquired two franchises. I pay over £2,000 in tax each month. I don't use NHS. I ran away from education. And the police - I can take care of myself. I just fail to see why I should pay for your kids with 50% of my read the rest

Good philosophy. I've met countless bikers that have had to wait until their 20s, and instead of riding a low powered machine for 4 years (which is what has to happen if you start at 17), they've gone straight onto high-powered read the rest
